Compliance

Emergency and exit lighting testing

Every emergency light and lit exit sign in a commercial building has to come on when the power goes out, and keep running long enough for everyone to get out. The Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) sets the testing schedule, and fire inspectors ask to see the records.

Churches, apartment clubhouses and senior living communities are inspected on this regularly. A unit can pass a quick button test in March and go dark 40 minutes into the annual test, which is why the long test matters.

What we do

  • Monthly test: each emergency light and exit sign run on battery for at least 30 seconds.
  • Annual test: each unit run on battery for the full 90 minutes.
  • A written log of every unit, date and result, kept for the fire inspector.
  • Repair or replace failed batteries, emergency lights and exit signs.
  • Reminders before the next test is due, on a schedule set for your building.

Testing intervals from NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, sections 7.9 and 7.10. Your fire inspector enforces the edition your jurisdiction has adopted.

Data & network cabling

Cat6 cabling / data cable runs

Most offices, clinics, churches and leasing centers need new data drops at the same time they need new circuits. One crew means one schedule, one set of ceiling tiles moved, and cable that’s routed and kept separate from power wiring the right way.

Network cabling

  • Cat6 and Cat6A runs to desks, workstations, printers and TVs
  • Wall jacks, patch panels and racks
  • Plenum-rated cable where it runs through air-handling ceilings
  • Moves, adds and changes when the office layout changes

Cable for your devices

  • Wi-Fi access point drops
  • Security camera runs, inside and out
  • Access control and door-entry cabling
  • Power for the devices on the same visit

We run, terminate and label the cable; your IT or security vendor mounts and programs the equipment.

Parking lot lighting

Pole lights, wall packs and lot lighting

Dark poles, cycling lamps and failed wall packs repaired, and older metal halide and HPS fixtures replaced with LED. We bring the lift, so the lot stays open while we work.

Working with ARC

How we work with businesses

Commercial customers need paperwork, predictability and an electrician who shows up when the building is open. Here’s what to expect.

  1. 1

Tell us the building and the problem

Address, site contact, access hours and who can approve the work. A photo of the panel or the problem helps.

  2. 2

A licensed electrician walks it and quotes

Scope and price are agreed in writing before any work starts. No surprises on the invoice, and no commission sales.

  3. 3

    Paperwork your office needs

Certificate of insurance and W-9 the same day on request. Net-30 terms if agreed before the first job; otherwise payment is due on completion.

  4. 4

    Work scheduled around your hours

Before open, after close or on the days your building is quiet. Our 24/7 line reaches the on-call electrician, and existing commercial customers get priority.

We work directly for owners, property managers and facility managers, not as a subcontractor to general contractors. No formal maintenance agreements, but recurring visits are easy to set up.

What commercial customers say

Businesses that called once and kept calling

★★★★★

“Had a great experience with ARC electric to share. They installed procedure lights in a commercial/medical building for me. Their quote was fair and they were able to do the work within 7 days of the initial quote. Furthermore they did not charge for the initial visit for the quote which I find frustrating but are becoming more common.

A special shoutout and thanks to Tav and Sam, my install crew. Very professional and they got the job done. All around nice guys!”

★★★★★

“I hired Arc for some electrical work in a small commercial job. Travis came out and gave me a quote, then arrived on time/schedule to complete the job in a clean and efficient manner. I would highly recommend Arc, and asking for Travis and Alex to complete the work. I will be using them going forward for my electrical needs.”

More than electrical

Need a plumber on the same building?

ARC Electric’s sister company, ARC Plumbing, does commercial plumbing out of the same Fuquay-Varina shop, at the same phone number. Many of the businesses on this page use both: one call for the water heater and the circuit that feeds it, the restroom remodel and its lighting, the kitchen’s sinks and its equipment circuits.

  • Commercial water heaters, drains, fixtures and leaks
  • Backflow testing and installation
  • Upfits and remodels with plumbing and electrical coordinated
The ARC Promise

Commercial work is covered by the ARC Promise too.

We started ARC because nobody we met was happy with the last electrician they hired. So we put our rules in writing.

Read the Promise
  • Price in writing first. Scope and price agreed before any work starts.
  • No commission. Our electricians are paid the same whatever the job costs.
  • Second opinions. Got a quote from someone else? We’ll walk the job and give you a straight answer.

Commercial electrical questions

Do you offer after-hours or emergency service for businesses?

Yes. Our 24/7 line is answered around the clock and routes after-hours calls to the on-call electrician. Existing commercial customers get priority; new customers are welcome to call.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance and a W-9?

Yes, the same day you ask.

Do you offer Net-30 terms?

Yes, if it’s agreed before the first job. Otherwise payment is due when the work is complete.

Do you work with general contractors on new construction?

No. We work directly for owners, property managers and facility managers, on repairs, upgrades, upfits and remodels.

Do you test emergency lights and exit signs?

Yes. We run the monthly 30-second and annual 90-minute tests, keep the written log the fire inspector asks for, and repair or replace any unit that fails.

What data cabling do you install?

Cat6 and Cat6A runs with jacks, patch panels and racks, plus the cable runs for Wi-Fi access points, security cameras and access control. Your IT or security vendor installs and programs the devices.

Do you work on three-phase systems?

Yes: three-phase service, commercial panel replacements and upgrades, sub-panels and dedicated equipment circuits.

Can you work around church services or business hours?

That’s the default. We schedule church work on weekdays and business work before open, after close or on your quiet days, and we tell you ahead of any power shut-off.

Do you offer maintenance agreements?

Not formally. We’re happy to set up recurring visits, like emergency-light testing or a lighting walk-through, on whatever schedule your building needs.

What if the job needs a plumber too?

Our sister company, ARC Plumbing, handles commercial plumbing out of the same Fuquay-Varina shop, at the same phone number.
